New Konica Minolta Dimage E40

Konica Minolta Dimage E40Available in on-line stores now! (£149 at Expansys, and BestCameras) Although no information is currently available on Konica Minolta's website(s) - the Konica Minolta Dimage E40 is a 4 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2" TFT screen on the back, it takes SD memory cards and a Lithium-ion rechargable battery. The style, design and specifications may look and sound familiar, that's because they are - this digital camera is identical to the BenQ DC E43 (press release), the Minox DC4211, the Centon DC4s, the Rollei Prego DP4200, the Voigtländer Virtus D4, the Maginon Slimline X4, and the Premier DC4331. What are your thoughts on this, would you still be interested in a review of the Konica Minolta Dimage E40?

Previous Konica Minolta Dimage 'E' range digital cameras were the E223 (read my review here), the E323, the E203, and the E201.

As I have not found any review of the Benq and Minox versions as well, it would be appreciated if you could review one..

    Hi Joshua

I had a look at the sample photos.. image quality is not great apparently (or is it too much jpeg compression)..

Anyway, I had tried ordering this camera yesterday (4th Jan) from equipmentexpress.co.uk, but the salesperson called me up to say that it is no longer available for sale, because Minolta has discontinued it ???? He said he was as shocked as me to hear that - as this model was supposed to have been released only in December.. is this why there is no official announcement/product description anywhere in Minolta website ?

I wonder if there is any serious problem with this camera that might have led Minolta to discontinue it (if the news is right)?

    regards
    Id

It seems as though the Konica Minolta version of this camera was out just during December: http://www.digicamreview.co.uk/2004/12/konica-minolta-dimage-e40-press.html - although the other versions of this camera should still be available should you still want one.

    Hi Joshua,
I bought a Dimage E40 camera in Athens/Greece, in December 2004. I am very satisfied of the product. I really cannot understand why it is not distributed any more. I also wonder if I will have any accessories and services support when needed. I want to have a spare aduptor and battery. Which is the price of them and where in Greece can I buy them.

    Thanks for your attention
    I am looking forward for
    your reply
